Time: 5:10p.m.

Members Present: Billy Henry, Nick Wilks, Chris Trachi, Kaeli Davidson, Bryson McHenry, Jesse Curtis.

Members Absent: JoAnn Gatley, Vaughn Brown

Approval of last Meeting Minutes: Vaughn B. was no at meeting so no minutes were read.

Event Committee Report: The fundraising event will be August 16th at the Downtown Hilton in Vancouver. Billy reported that they graciously waived the entire room rental. NWABA is just responsible for food and beverage cost. This is expected to be around $1500. The fundraising event will have a table for our most competed sports (Goalball and Powerlifting) and possibly others if they start before the event. Doug Trimble was contacted about borrowing his projector to show the PowerPoint, if this does not work, Jesse will contact the Library to see if we can borrow theirs. Everyone was asked to look for underwriters to help offset the cost of the event. Also, the board voted that the slogan for the event will be “enriching the lives of the blind through athletics”.

Finances Report: Billy reported that the finances are looking very stable, however the Powerlifting account, will have close to $0 remaining after the Pasco Meet. Scholarship account is slightly in the negative, we will have to work hard to get this fund up fast. Goalball account was reimbursed for its loan to the Powerlifting team for worlds meet.

Pasco, WA Report (WABDL): Will be happening March 7th, 2008. This was a tough meet for planning as it came very quickly on us. The team will be going up in Billy’s Mom’s SUV; we have gotten two new lifters! (Andrew McDonald and Arlando Hicks) Both will be attending this meet.

Membership Report/Efforts: No membership report due to Joann Gatley not being in attendance

Strategic Planning: Billy asked for an extension on this. He wants a full draft done before being presented to the board. It should be ready by the next meeting.

Northwest Champions Fund: Nick reported that we have created a separate fund for National and International competition. This fund help assist athletes going to major competitions. NWABA will solicit major donors and foundations to help build the base for this fund. It was decided that eventually we would like to be able to use the interest from this fund to pay our general operating expenses

(Ex. Phone bill, postage, office supplies…).

Lynwood Bake Sale: The final preparations are underway for the bake sale. Billy and Nick will go to assist. We hope to make $150 off this event for the Powerlifting team.

Raffle: Ticket sales are going ok, but we’d like try and get more to reach our fundraising goal so far we’ve made about $200.

Adjournment: Nick Wilks adjourned the meeting at 6:06p.m.
